Who we are

Established in 1955 with nothing more than a humble tin shed in the sand dunes, we at West Beach Surf Life Saving Club have grown into a pillar of our community and a leader in lifesaving excellence, inclusion, and sustainability. From nurturing the next generation of lifesavers to creating one of the most thoughtfully designed clubhouses in the country, we strive to lead with heart, vision, and impact.

What we do

Lifesaving education and operations are core to what we do. Our patrolling members are led with effective situational leadership, while highly qualified trainers and assessors deliver top-tier education, fostering continual learning and upskilling. Our targeted initiatives with CALD and migrant groups demonstrate our commitment to inclusivity and connection with the wider community.

Across surf sports, we encourage members to pursue personal bests and team success, with high participation rates reflecting our focus on development and inclusive competition. Commercially, our thriving beachfront bistro serves as a hub for the West Beach community, welcoming locals and visitors alike.

West Beach SLSC is more than a surf club—it is a gathering place, a training ground, a local employer, and a trusted community partner. Our values of safety, inclusion, and respect guide everything we do. As we continue to reach new heights, we remain true to our humble, hardworking spirit, inspiring our members and the wider community every day.
