Officiating Surf Sports

Officiating is a vital part of every surf sports competition. Our officials ensure events run smoothly, fairly, and in line with Surf Life Saving rules and safety standards.

Whether you’re at the finish line, setting the course, or timekeeping on the beach you are helping make the sport possible.

Officiating Pathway

Like coaching, officiating follows a tiered progression:

• Core Official – Entry-level accreditation to officiate at local events
• Technical Official – Deeper understanding of specific disciplines and officiating roles
• Senior Official – For experienced officials (EOI required via your SLS Members Area)

You can start with just a few hours at local carnivals and build from there!
