Pink & Blue - sunday 9 February 2025
The Pink Swim, which began in 2013, has grown from its initial focus on breast cancer support to include supporting both breast and prostate cancer research and care. Run entirely by a passionate group of volunteers, the event has expanded to feature a walk and a run, broadening its impact and making it accessible to all, including four legged friends.
Over the years, funds raised have supported:
Breast Cancer Network of Australia
National Breast Cancer Foundation
Cancer Council of SA
Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia
St Andrews Hospital Breast Care Unit
We donate 100% of ticket proceeds equally between our breast and prostate cancer beneficiaries. To date, we have raised over $625,000, which has contributed to:
Research, including the Evolution Program with PCFA’s trial involving two South Australian men
The purchase of a Gamma Probe, aiding breast surgeons in identifying sentinel lymph nodes during biopsies
Establishing a Breast Cancer Patient Lounge
Developing a Breast Cancer Treatment Room and Drain Bags, a private facility for patient counselling, dressing changes, wound and drain care, and provision of post-operative garments, prostheses, and surgical aids

HISTORY OF THE PINK AND BLUE
Originally named the Pink Swim, the event launched in 2013 following the introduction of compulsory high-vis pink vests for surf lifesavers during training and in the water. After several members were diagnosed with breast cancer that year, we decided to replace the pink vests with pink caps and solicit donations in support. The inaugural event saw 80 swimmers participate, sparking significant interest and leading to the expansion into the event we know today.
Over a decade later our event has grown from strength to strength and attracts participants from all over the state and beyond.
We would like to acknowledge our amazing Partners, who make this event possible.
